The narration is done by Burnat and thefilm focuses on the personal stories key people in the village lived within their roles to protect the ownership and access to their farming lands.

The film’s title refers to the number of cameras owned by Burnat and were broken by Israeli forces during the five years over which the film was shot. Each camera tells a different story according to the co-director.

This Week In Palestine

Zara Hannoun —  September 1, 2013

An Article Published in This Week in Palestine by one of our own, Eyas Al-Homouz:

“Back in 2009, in the wake of the war on Gaza, a group of cyclists in London launched an initiative that utilised a fun sports activity to support and increase awareness of the plight of our people in Gaza and to raise funds for carefully selected non-profit organisations that provide critical educational and health support to vulnerable Palestinian communities. Their goal was to create a sustainable project, and it has since become an annual event that draws cyclists from all around the globe for a three-day bike ride that takes them to a different country each year. Cycling4Gaza is a fantastic way to see exceptional countryside in foreign lands, keep fit, meet interesting people, be philanthropic, and raise awareness about Palestine at the same time. A word from Cycling4Gaza co-founder, Tamara Ben-Halim

Arrival into Istanbul

Dear friends,

This time four years ago, a group of friends in London were frantically recruiting cyclists, organising fundraising events, training on their bikes, and embarking on guerrilla poster-hanging operations around the city. Our mission was to promote an international cycle in support of emergency healthcare work in the Gaza Strip following the 2008-2009 military offensive.  Within weeks, our modest effort had evolved into a 27-strong team of people from all over the world coming together in support of Gaza’s population. Over 3 days in July 2009, we cycled 320km from London to Paris and collectively raised over £90,000 for MAP UK ’s healthcare projects in the region.

PCRF’s message

PCRF’s founder Steve Sosebee talks about the REACH project

We are honored to partner with Cycling4Gaza and the many dedicated volunteers from all over the world who support their great deeds. This partnership will enable us to focus on addressing the terrible human crisis facing children in the besieged Gaza Strip.  Our goal in the REACH (Reaching Every Affected Child in Gaza) project is to identify every sick and injured child in Gaza in need of specialized medical care, and to provide them with the surgery that they need but cannot get within the exhausted local healthcare system.

The PCRF was created as a nonprofit, nonpolitical medical relief organization during the first Intifada, by concerned people who were seeking ways to contribute positively to the humanitarian needs of children under Israeli military occupation. Over the past twenty-two years, we have sent over 1,000 children from Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Iraq for free surgery in North and South America, Europe, Asia and other parts of the Middle East.  We have treated over 10,000 children through direct surgery by hundreds of visiting teams from all over the world. The PCRF has field staff and offices throughout the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Lebanon to ensure that we are able to identify and support the care of children in need.

Impact Over 4 Years

Zara Hannoun —  June 16, 2013

MAP photo 2  Sara_Atfaluna

Since 2009, Cycling4Gaza has positively impacted the lives of 5,000 children and 3,000 family members and individuals in the community through projects working in maternal and children’s health, mental and physical disability, psychological care and children’s education.

In 2009, we supported three emergency medical relief projects with MAP UK in response to the 2008-2009 military offensive on Gaza:

•The Emergency Maternal and New-born Healthcare project ensured the safety of mothers and babies through creating an integrated emergency procedure and building the capacity and skills of the staff.

•The Specialist Burns Care training project trained staff to respond to emergency cases and upgraded the ground facilities for the project to function more effectively.

•The Train the Trainers in Primary Care project provided members of the community with skills and knowledge that allowed them to act as effective first responders to give critical first aid intervention within the golden hour of patient injury.

Why Germany?

Zara Hannoun —  June 11, 2013

The choice to end our 2013 cycle in Berlin comes largely to remind our cyclists, supporters, and donors that a 700 Km long separation wall still stands today at a flight’s distance from Berlin’s historical Wall. As was the case for Berliners not long ago, Palestinians impacted by the Separation Barrier in the West Bank are restricted in their freedom of movement marginalising their access to educational and healthcare services as well as directly affecting them economically and socially. We have precisely chosen the Brande-burger Tor as our ending point in Berlin for the cycle for its significance to the European example of unity and peace.
