About Us

Cycling4Gaza IS BACK for this year’s C4G2024 Cycling4Justice Campaign!

Following a 2 year post-Covid hiatus, and in light of the dire and unprecedented situation in Gaza, we will be back in the saddle this August to move and mobilise in order to raise awareness and funds for a vital project for the children of Gaza.

Cycling4gaza was born in the wake of 2009 military offensive on Gaza in an effort to draw international attention to the emergency situation in Gaza and the effects of the ongoing blockade on its people, and a means through which to support reputable organisations that are building a culture of self-reliance and independence among Palestinian communities through sustainable, long-term health and education projects.

Every year, Cycling4Gaza mobilises people from all over the world to take part in a cycling challenge that typically covers between 300km and 400km over 3 or 4 days in various destinations. These cyclists sign up to cycle and to fundraise for a trusted charitable partner that is doing vital work on the ground in support of the welfare and wellbeing of children and vulnerable communities in Gaza. Through this partnership, we raise awareness about the ongoing situation in Gaza, and most importantly we raise vital funds for the selected projects.

Every year, we choose our destination and design our route based on what is happening in the world in response to the situation in Gaza/Palestine.  We also select a trusted charitable partner that is doing vital work on the ground in support of the welfare and wellbeing of children and vulnerable communities in Gaza, with the aim of choosing partners and projects that can reach as many people as possible and who develop and implement long-term, sustainable projects that centre Palestinian dignity and that aim to build a culture of self-reliance and independence among Palestinian communities by utilise existing Palestinian resources, skills and expertise to achieve their goals.

2024 marks 76 years since the Nakba, and has been the most devastating and violent year for Palestinians since then. It also marks 17 years of the suffocating and illegal blockade on Gaza, which has only gotten worse since the current assault on Gaza began in October 2023, and which affects every single aspect of life for the over 2.2 million Palestinians there.  Since October 2023, Gazans have been subjected to the most intensive, brutal and deadly military onslaught they have ever experienced.

The children of Gaza (half of the 2.2 million population) are disproportionately impacted and pay the heaviest price as a result of desperate living conditions brought on by a brutal and suffocating siege, and as a result of repeated exposure to war and violence.

We believe that mobilising and moving through space alongside others in solidarity with the people in Gaza is one of the best ways to cover large areas and travel through multiple places where we can spread the word and raise awareness about the ongoing, dire situation in Gaza. By doing this, we aim not only to challenge ourselves to cover hundreds of Kms and be seen and heard by as many people as we can along the way, but to also challenge people’s conceptions and perceptions of Palestine and Palestinians and by doing so, to motivate them to engage and move in their own ways in support and in solidarity.
